Chelo Gámez; a woman who makes an impact and leaves no one indifferent.
With a character, intelligence and drive that oozes out of every pore, her cheerful and optimistic spirit, her enormous heart and sensitivity for beauty, for the arts and for living passionately, have made her whole life a gravitational pole for all the lives around her.
Chelo was born in her beloved Malaga in 1945. After a very happy childhood and youth, she became a university student in Spain in the 1960s, a time when few women were pursuing higher education. And she did so in a technical career such as Economics, in Madrid.
She married José Manuel Simón in 1970 and became a mother in 1973, 1978 and 1980. She became Professor of Macroeconomics at the young University of Malaga in 1997.
In 2005 she retired to spend more time with her family, but sadly became a widow that same year.
And it is then, at more than 60 years of age, with her children already out of the house and engaged in their own professional careers, when she focuses her energy and her entrepreneurial spirit on the adventure of becoming a businesswoman, with a dream in mind: to create a ham in her land that she loves and of which she can be fully proud.
