The commitment to excellence and innovation in the Malaga countryside has a prize.

The excellence, research or business expansion in the field were some of the virtues that were distinguished in the AGRO SUR Awards, which were presented yesterday in a crowded gala at the Teatro del Carmen, in the town of Velez-Malaga. With this award ceremony also managed to give visibility to the efforts made by these, but also by other companies operating in the agri-food sector in Malaga.

In this second edition, The prize, which is sponsored by Cajamar and with the collaboration of the Diputación Provincial de Málaga and Sabor a Málaga, the City of Vélez, Naecoer, the Port of Málaga, the City of Coín and Asaja, were awarded five companies in the primary sector. Specifically, five companies and institutions were awarded in different categories: Almensur, IFAPA Malaga, Citrus La Tana, The Dehesa of the Monteross and Frutas Montosa.

The event, which was hosted by Ana Barreales, editor-in-chief of SUR, was attended by the following people businessmen and representatives of public and private institutions related to the agri-food sector in Malaga, one of the most booming in Andalusia in recent years.

In the Innovation and Internationalization section, The winning company was Dehesa of the Monteross, known for its ‘Ibéricos de Autor’ (Iberian Cured Meat Products)’ y for the chestnut premontanera with which they also feed their pigs in the pasture land of the Genal Valley. Among its major achievements in recent years has been the recovery of the blond pig, an Iberian breed that was on the verge of extinction.
